CASIO  Privia Series Electronic Piano Keyboard

Probably the first Weighted Piano Keyboard  that some of us older musicians  first heard about or played…was the Fender Rhodes.  This little Keyboard had some spunk, a little funk, and added a new dimension to any band’s  performances.

It was first introduced to the music world in 1965 and has been used in Rock, Jazz, Country, Contemporary Christian Music, and more.

Artists like Billy Preston, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Bob James,  and Paul McCartney all played the Fender Rhodes at one time.  Well… this instrument was truly  revolutionary in the development of the Electronic Piano Keyboard.  Although it was not Digital… It paved the way for future innovations in Digital Piano Keyboard technology.   Actually the first Fender Rhodes used Mechanical Organ technology in the beginning.    Then in 1980 The Casio Company stepped up and began to dominate this industry.

Yamaha followed soon after with the Clavinova, and then Roland began to offer their line of Digital Sampling Workstations and Keyboards.

Since the 1980s, digital pianos began using modern digital sampling technology to reproduce the sound of each piano note.  The first Digital piano Keyboard was made by the Casio Company with features including working pedals, weighted keys, multi-voices, and MIDI interfaces.  Since there are no strings to vibrate, this feature had to be created by synthesizing the dampening effect made by damper pedals on acoustic pianos.

As music industry professionals and Musicians, we have seen the entire industry evolve to a point where it is now possible to get concert rated grand piano sounds, out of a much smaller Electronic Piano keyboard, and the range of options offered to the Keyboard Artist today… is awesome!

The Digital Workstation

The Digital “Workstation” Keyboard has become an all-in-one studio recording platform for many performing artists.  These units can be expensive, but offer most of the sounds, effects and creativity that used to take weeks to accomplish with the much older analog equipment used back in the 60′s, 70′s and some of the 80′s.   Now it is possible to record Drums, Metal Guitars, String Orchestra, and a complete range of woodwind, and other musical instruments using on board multi-track digital recording features.  The “Workstation” type of Electronic Piano Keyboard truly offers professional musicians, unlimited creativity in a digital recording environment.

Here on this site we have reviews and highlights for the Keyboard Musical Instruments offered by Casio, Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Williams,  which we consider to be very good manufacturers of fine Electronic Piano Keyboard equipment.   We have taken into consideration Quality, Price, Technical Support, and other factors when considering what are the best in Gigital Pianos.
